Something not working?
The things that go wrong most often are below, with what to do about each. If none of them is yours, the form at the bottom goes to a person, who writes back.
Analysis without an API key
Open Settings → Providers → Rambler and sign in with Apple. Rambler's own analysis then works with nothing to set up, and the account comes with a free allowance to try it. A subscription covers regular use after that.
Using your own API key
You can also analyse on your own account with an AI provider. Make a key at one of these, then open Settings → Providers, tap the provider and paste it in. It's stored in your iPhone's Keychain and sent only to that provider.
Test, next to the key field, checks that the provider accepts the key. It doesn't check the balance: most providers need some credit on the account before a key will run anything, so a key that passes the test and then fails on the first analysis usually means the account is empty.
The transcription model won't download
Transcription runs on your iPhone, so the Whisper model has to download once. Settings → Transcription model shows its progress and lists each model with its size. If the download stopped, close Rambler and open it again: it starts the download again at launch.
You can record before it finishes. Ramblings recorded in the meantime are saved and transcribed once the model is ready.
I paid, and it's asking me to pay again
Open Settings, tap the Rambler row at the top, and tap Restore purchase. That asks Apple what your Apple Account owns and unlocks the app again. It's the same on a new phone.
If restore finds nothing, check that you're signed into the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If you subscribe, also sign in with Apple under Settings → Providers → Rambler: the monthly allowance belongs to that account.
Getting your ramblings out
Open a rambling and use Share as Markdown in its menu. Explorations have Export as Markdown in theirs. To take everything at once, Settings → Data → Export everything as JSON. Plain files that open anywhere, so leaving Rambler never means losing what you said in it.
Refunds
Purchases go through Apple, so refunds do too: reportaproblem.apple.com. Tell us anyway if something disappointed you. That's the part we can act on.
Still stuck
Write it here and a person reads it. It helps to say which iPhone and iOS version you're on, which provider you use, and what you did just before it went wrong. Never paste an API key into this form. We never need it.
The message and your address are kept so the reply can reach you, and nothing else is done with them. More on that.
